New Home Sales Counselor

About Wedgewood Building Company

Building a home is one of the biggest decisions a family ever makes and at Wedgewood Building Company, we treat it that way. We build thoughtfully designed new homes in the most desirable communities in and around the greater Indianapolis area, and we’ve earned a reputation for quality and dependability, a reputation we want you to protect and grow. Our buyers don’t just get a house. They get a home with a team that stands behind it.

We’re a locally owned builder, which means decisions get made fast, good work gets noticed, and the person across the table from the customer is empowered to actually take care of them. If you want to sell something you’re proud of, in a market that’s growing, alongside people who care about getting it right then keep reading.

The Opportunity

We’re adding a New Home Sales Counselor to our growing team. You’ll be the face of Wedgewood in one or two assigned communities. You will be the first-person prospective buyers meet, the guide who walks them from “just looking” to “welcome home,” and the steady hand who keeps that relationship strong through the entire build.

This is a relationship role, not a clock-puncher’s job. The counselors who thrive here are part hospitality, part real-estate pro, and part brand ambassador. You own your communities. You know your inventory. And when a family decides to build with Wedgewood, a meaningful part of the reason is you.

What You’ll Do

  • Own your communities. Serve as the dedicated, on-site sales counselor for one or two assigned communities, with exclusive responsibility for sales activity there.
  • Turn leads into homeowners. Respond to inbound leads quickly and professionally, qualify buyers, and guide them through home and floor-plan selection, options, financing referrals, contract, and closing.
  • Work the model home. Staff the model during posted hours, keep it show-ready, and create a warm, polished first impression every single time the door opens.
  • Be relentlessly responsive. Follow up with prospects and customers in a timely, organized way with a target response time of 12 hours. Keep every lead moving forward in the CRM and in person.
  • Manage lot inventory. Track available lots and inventory homes in your communities, advise buyers on lot selection and premiums, and coordinate with operations and/or construction to keep availability accurate.
  • Keep the brand sharp. Maintain marketing collateral, signage, and model-home presentation so everything a buyer sees reflects the Wedgewood standard.
  • Show up in the community. Represent Wedgwood at neighborhood events, builder/Realtor functions, grand openings, and local networking — some evenings and weekends included.
  • Network heavily. Build and nurture relationships with cooperating real-estate agents, lenders, developers, and prospective buyers to keep your pipeline full.
  • Carry the brand the right way. Represent Wedgewood Building Company in a manner consistent with our values, voice, and quality standards in every interaction, online and in person.

What the Week Looks Like

Honest expectation-setting: this role doesn’t fit neatly into 9-to-5. New-home buyers shop when they’re free which means weekends and some evenings are part of the rhythm, balanced by a flexible schedule the rest of the week.

  • Posted model-home hours, including weekend coverage (a core selling window).
  • Daytime appointments, walkthroughs, and follow-up.
  • After-hours and weekend events — grand openings, neighborhood gatherings, Realtor functions

What You Bring

  • A people-first instinct. You genuinely like people, you listen well, and you can build trust fast.
  • Sales drive. You’re motivated by goals and comfortable asking for the sale and guiding a decision through a focus process driven sales approach.
  • Organization & follow-through. You keep leads, paperwork, and details from slipping so nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
  • Polish & professionalism. You present yourself and the brand well, in person and in writing.
  • Self-direction. You manage your own communities and schedule without someone standing over you.
  • Availability to work all weekends and occasional evenings as the role requires.  Standard days off are consecutive days during the week.

Bonus Points

  • Active Indiana real-estate license. A broker’s license is a plus but not required. Knowledge of residential real estate is, however.
  • New-construction experience. Prior new-home or builder sales experience and familiarity with the Hamilton County market.
  • A local network. Existing relationships with area Realtors, lenders, or developers.
  • CRM fluency. Comfort with Builder Trend.

What We Offer

  • Competitive earnings. Base + commission structure — e.g., base salary plus uncapped commission on closed homes
  • A product you’re proud to sell. Quality homes and a brand buyers respect, in a market that’s growing.
  • Defined territory. Exclusive ownership of your assigned communities — your effort, your pipeline, your reward.
  • Benefits. Health, dental, vision, 401k, etc.
  • Support to succeed. Marketing, model homes, in-house architecture, and a team that has your back so you can focus on selling.
  • Room to grow. Path to additional communities, mentorship, or sales leadership for high performers.
